Volunteer Church Treasurer

 

Do you want to make a difference by giving just a few hours a month to one of London’s most vibrant and welcoming churches? In the heart of Hackney, Trinity Saints serves a diverse community committed to sharing the love of Jesus. The Volunteer Treasurer role is needed to provide financial oversight and ensure the church is in good financial standing.
 

About the role
 

The treasurer maintains an overview of parish financial affairs - essentially ensuring the church adheres to all legal requirements and that its finances are well-managed.
 

Skills and Characteristics
​
  • Financial competence and bookkeeping experience (we currently use Expenses Plus)

  • Collaborative and strategic

  • Great communicator

  • Experience with charity operations

  • Trustworthy - able to manage confidential information

  • Meet the wider requirements of the Charity Commissioners for all trustees: i.e. not disqualified by bankruptcy or by convictions for financial wrongdoing. 

  • Be able to work independently and as part of a team 

 

We would very much welcome further skills or experience in Fundraising research, Bid writing, Fundraising strategy and/or Governance. Support will be available from the diocese and the previous treasurer will provide a comprehensive handover. No requirement to cover payroll and pensions.

 

Time Commitment
​

This role requires around two hours per month for financial oversight and attendance at four Zoom meetings for budgeting and reporting per year (quarterly).
